Tap into your values.

One of the easiest ways to make a change for the better is to tap into your values.

Values are the things that are important to you. You can have as many or as few as you want. Mine are freedom, family, fairness and fun.

If you don’t know what your top values are, spend a few minutes looking at this values list and pick out the words that are important to how you live your life.

Another easy way to identify your values is to think of a memory, or time in your life when everything felt amazing. What was happening at that time? Who were you with? What were you doing? How did you feel? What are the values that were being met at that time?

You can use your values to guide you in a number of ways - decision-making, planning, making changes or setting intentions. Values are a great way to explore what’s going on in your life and how you can make it better.

Recently, a client of mine was having a hard time at work. How could she make it work better for her? With freedom, family and connection as her top three values, she started to explore:

- What could she do to feel more free at work?

- How could she work in a way that honours her value of family?

- What would more connection at work look like?

By looking at how she could honor her values in the workplace, she was able to make changes that made going to work feel less hard.

How are you honoring your values in your day-to-day life?

I’d love to know.
